Marketing Manager
Shape how UpSkill Universe goes to market, running the campaigns, content and events that bring the right organisations to us. Hybrid or remote within the UK, £45,000 to £50,000.
About UpSkill Universe
UpSkill Universe is a multi-award-winning AI upskilling and training organisation, founded in 2015. We design and deliver practical learning programmes for large enterprises, governments and community partners, and we have now trained close to 800,000 people across 43 countries, working with organisations including Google, Sky, UBS, HSBC, Visa, Lloyds Bank and Santander. Our work spans the UK, Sub-Saharan Africa and international markets, across AI, data, digital skills, leadership and inclusion.
About the role
We are looking for a Marketing Manager to build how UpSkill Universe goes to market, so that the right people in the right organisations know who we are, trust what we do and want to talk to us. You will shape our marketing plan, positioning and messaging, and then run the campaigns, content and events that turn them into qualified conversations for our sales team. Our audiences range from HR, L&D, Talent and Digital leaders in large enterprises to CSR, Foundation and Social Impact leads funding societal upskilling programmes, and much of the work will be turning our delivery experience, client results and point of view on AI and future skills into stories those people want to read and share.
This is a hands-on role in a small and ambitious business. You will write the plan, create much of the content, deliver the campaign, read the results and use what you learn to make the next one better, working closely with the CEO, the Head of Growth, Sales, Product and Delivery. It suits someone commercially minded and creative who is comfortable making decisions and moving things forward where not everything is defined yet.
This is a permanent, full-time role reporting to the Head of Growth. You can work hybrid from our London office or remotely within the UK, with time together for team days, client meetings and events.
Your responsibilities will centre on:
Owning a marketing plan tied to our growth targets and commercial priorities.
Defining our positioning, messaging and priority audiences using market insight, client feedback and sales intelligence.
Running multi-channel B2B campaigns that build awareness and generate qualified enquiries for Sales.
Owning the content strategy and editorial calendar, including thought leadership, case studies and webinars.
Keeping our brand and messaging consistent across every channel.
Measuring marketing's contribution to enquiries and pipeline through HubSpot and reporting on it clearly.
What you will do
Marketing strategy and planning
Marketing Plan: Develop and deliver a marketing plan aligned with UpSkill Universe's growth objectives, agreed with the Head of Growth and the CEO and reviewed each quarter.
Positioning and Messaging: Define and refine our positioning, propositions and messaging for each priority audience, drawing on market insight, client feedback and what Sales hears in live conversations.
Budget and Resources: Plan and prioritise marketing activity, managing the marketing budget, external suppliers and delivery timelines.
Campaigns and demand generation
Integrated Campaigns: Plan and run multi-channel B2B campaigns across LinkedIn, email, the website, webinars and events, each with a clear call to action and a follow-up journey.
Sales Alignment: Work with Growth and Sales on target accounts, prospecting and live opportunities so that campaigns reach the organisations we most want to work with.
Lead Capture and Nurture: Build lead capture, scoring and nurture journeys in HubSpot that move interest towards a sales conversation, with a clean handover to Sales.
Testing and Optimisation: Test and refine messaging, formats and channels to improve engagement and conversion.
Content and brand
Content Strategy: Own the content strategy and editorial calendar, producing content that shows our expertise and speaks directly to the challenges our audiences face.
Thought Leadership and Proof: Develop articles, case studies, client stories, webinars and lead magnets with internal subject matter experts, including material the CEO and Sales can use in their own conversations.
Brand Consistency: Keep messaging and brand positioning consistent across channels, and find ways to extend our reach through partners, guest contributions, awards and external platforms.
Performance and collaboration
Measurement and Reporting: Set clear objectives and tracking for every campaign and report monthly on marketing's contribution to enquiries and pipeline.
CRM and Analytics: Use HubSpot, GA4 and Google Search Console to understand what is working, keep marketing data accurate and spot where to improve.
Ways of Working: Work closely with Growth, Sales, Product and Delivery, as well as external suppliers, to build a repeatable and scalable marketing approach, using AI tools wherever they make the work faster and better.
What success looks like
By the end of month three: the marketing plan is agreed, positioning and messaging for our priority audiences are signed off, the editorial calendar is live and campaign tracking is set up in HubSpot.
By the end of month six: at least two integrated campaigns delivered end to end with results reported, and a steady monthly flow of marketing-sourced qualified enquiries against targets agreed with the Head of Growth.
A growing library of case studies and client stories that Sales uses in live conversations, and monthly reporting that shows marketing's contribution to enquiries and pipeline.
Progression
After 12 to 18 months, and against clear performance measures, there is a route into a Head of Marketing role, with the opportunity to build and lead a small team as the function grows.
About you
Proven experience in B2B marketing, including planning and delivering campaigns that have contributed to business growth.
Experience in learning and development, consultancy, professional services, HR or People, or a related environment.
Strong campaign planning and project management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver against deadlines.
Excellent writing, editing and storytelling skills, able to turn complex ideas into clear and compelling content across channels.
A good understanding of demand generation, lead capture and nurture, and how marketing and sales work together.
Confident using marketing data and analytics to assess performance, draw conclusions and improve results.
It would be great if you also bring hands-on HubSpot or marketing automation experience, a track record of marketing to enterprise HR, L&D or People leaders, experience creating case studies, customer stories and lead magnets used in sales conversations, an interest in how AI is changing work and learning, or experience with SEO, GA4 and Google Search Console.
